Summary of the day:
Professor Hussien Al-Furaihi, General Secretary of Saudi Councel for Health Specialties, was the guest of honor to the day and he gave an opening speech, where he highlighted the effrots conducted by the Association.
Following the opening ceremony, the scientific activity started (see program below).
The day conatained an important forum, where 2 presentations given regarding the future of stroke care. The comments from the audience included having a stroke kit similar to the one provided by the American Stroke Association to help start similar programs in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Other comments from the audience included, education of the community to access acute medical and rehabilitation care early rather than late. Other comments from the audience included starting with basic primary stroke centers rather than having multiple comprehensive stroke centers. Calculation of the number of primary and comprehensive stroke centers needed in each community.
Another comment was to calculate the manpower needed in each community and to identify which hospitals should provide primary and comprehensive stroke care.
At the end of the day, the final round of the resident tournament took place, where 2 teams competed for the grand prize, which was won by Dr. Ali Al-Shehri and Dr. Ismail El-Hassan. Second place went to Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Abdulsalam and Dr. Ahmed Al-Daif.
